TIP: WHEN SEWING GRANDMOTHERS FLOWER GARDEN QUILT...

While stitching on  my daughters border for her flower quilt this morning i thought about a tip for working on the Grandmothers flower garden quilts....As most of you know that follow my adventures working on these quilts i have added borders to them to make them have more personalities....

The tip is when making the zig zag end of the quilt you can make them in a row before you join them to the quilt....you wont have to worry about if you are getting the right zig in the right spot if you sew starting in the down position and make an odd amount of them such as 5,7 or 9 cause when you turn it one way the first one is either up or down then the opposite end will be the opposite of the first....i hope that makes sense...but it is very helpful believe me so you dont have to guess all the time which way you should start if you are sewing away from the quilt say in a dr. office...

CANDY MAKING TODAY AND A LITTLE SEWING ON THE SIDE

The last two days i have been busy looking for recipes and baking...well not baking but candy making...and i am not done yet....i will go as long as my energy lasts....here is one of the items i have made....Carol's
people chow is what i am calling it...hope the kids like it...its pretty tasty if i do say so....and the other one is homemade turtles....i would have liked to make the carmel from scratch as it would have been softer but i was afraid by the time i got the carmel made i would have stopped there...

I have also been working pretty steady on the borders of my granddaughters flower quilt and happy to say i am almost done...couple more days of steady work and i should be finished....then i can put the borders on both my daughters flower quilts....and in between i am working on the one i am making for myself with all the leftovers....that will be a slow going thing till i get those girls' done...

Well back to the kitchen to make some peanut brittle....i hesitate to say things are going along smooth today but they are and hope to continue....more later....

FINDING MORE BLOCKS FROM SCRAP

I have been doing more 'little' sewing from the scrap on the table...just minor things like these going to be potholders...I dont know about the rest of the family but i need new ones and they dont have to be fancy...these were leftover partial blocks that i have been chasing around on that table forever so now they will be done up this week sometime..

Also i have been working off and on, on these blocks...cant remember what the name of the block is but i would call it a 9 patch variation...they have all been made from the scrap on the table too at various times....been thinking of making a star block with background all the same with print star of other colors to alternate with these....not sure on that...i am not even sure how big i want the quilt...more on this later....

Healthwise....got more tests in January, added one more when i went for followup at the gastro doc...i have a feeling my insides are going to be recognized more than my outside if they keep going lol....but so far all is well....wish they could cure my arthritis.....

Well gotta run to the store to get some meat...didn't want to cook today but the restaurants will be busy this close to Christmas and i dont want to stand in line to wait to eat....soo....more next time.....

ANGEL TOPPER --A GIFT FROM MY SWAPPER FRIEND

Isn't this pretty???? ...Beautiful Angel!... It's a topper made by one of my on line quilting friends for Christmas swap i joined....i am thinkng of putting a sleeve on it so i can hang it....i have just the spot for it and i think it would look nice ...

Yesterday wasn't a total loss...i washed up a small load of clothes and another load of dark fabrics and ironed them for my cabinet...

I just havent felt like doing too much...this past week i have had some sort of bug working on me...i think its a sinus infection but so far i am still going...very tired all the time though....so not much is getting done...

Today i hope to change that....i have a lot of fabric that needs washed up so it can be used so this is the game plan....wash a huge load of same color type fabric and dry a few at a time so when i iron them my arm doesn't get so tired....i think this will work better though its kinda slow process but workable...

I have already worked 3 hrs on my grand daughters flower garden quilt....this border is getting to me...for some reason its taking forever to finish...one reason is the Kona white cotton is very stiff to work with....i hate it....the last batch of it got was this way....

I ordered fabric for the background of the last flower garden quilt...MINE....it wont be Kona for sure....i am making sure i got something that is soft to hand sew....one note...when i went to order...it seems most of the other whites in all categories is sold out or has very little yardage...what is going on?????...is the companies not making any or is the public making quilts with all white backs?????.....unbelieveable!!!!

My sewing table is a wreck again...but what should i expect when i am working in there most of the time...i never stick with one thing very long so there is always 3-4 projects going on all the time....

I cant get anything done sitting here so off i go...maybe it will be a very productive day....more later.....

CATCH UP TIME

Catch up time....I have been sewing off and on since my busy week with health things....Yesterday i finally finished the cosmetic bag i have been working on since about 3 weeks ago....all went well...so well it was scary thinking i forgot something lol....i probably should have worked on the other one that is waiting to be quilted and it too would have been finished....oh well it can wait for a bit....i hope to get these bags to my daughters this next week so she can put them in her shop where she does nails....just right for cosmetics so maybe they will sell in time for Christmas presents....

I also finished a little doll quilt so it could be packed ready to give to a needy girl for Christmas...my other daughter will pick the box up and take it to her church for distribution....that obligation is finished....yay....

Now i only have one more obligation....my quilt group swap box for Christmas to finish up....trying to get them all done before this next scope test in case they find where i am losing blood and have to put me in hospital to fix....i want all things i have to have done finished before that....i wish all that was over....

Today i have plans of working in sewing room...figured out a way to gain more space in the room so will work on that if i can find some muscle.....more later.....

SPENT THE DAY AT THE HOSPITAL

I spent today at the hospital  for 5 hours getting a blood transfusion because of my anemia....Yesterday i had an Endoscopy done so its been a wild 2 days....I am very tired from all the action...I hope the transfusion helps the anemia enough that i dont have to have more....I stayed with my daughter for the last 2 days as she is closer to the hospital than i am and less driving time...

Before i came home my daughter and i did a little shopping for items for a box i am donating for a child for Christmas.... i knew i wouldn't have time to do it any other time before it had to be turned in ....i think i have enough things now except a stuffed animal...i thought i would make a little quilt to finish off the box....shouldn't take much time to do....

Earlier in the week i spent the day making blocks and straightening up more on the table....i will post a pic maybe tomorrow if i am not too tired...

That is about it for me...going to bed early...sure hope i rest good....more later....

CONTINUING SQUARE IN SQUARE BLOCKS

Here is a quilt i made years ago from some small square in square blocks, all pastel for my nephews baby...i always liked it but was tedious to work on...so here we go with another one like it only scrap....

After digging in the box of triangles yesterday and sorting them into proper stacks i found some little ones that were cut from 1 1/2 in strips...today i worked on them and it took a 2 1/2in square to make the square in square block that will measure 2 3/4 inches when finished...THAT IS TINY!...well today i made 24 of those little blocks so far...i have almost a full box of 1 1/2 inch strips i can keep adding to make a bigger quilt but it will take a lot...

The pinwheel blocks i was going to make kind of went by the wayside for now...the triangles for them are in a bag put in the clothes basket of blocks for now...that will be another day but there is quite a stack of them also...i guess block making never ends as long as i have ideas in my head...lol...

Got errands to run this afternoon before the rain starts so i better got going....more later.....

WORKING ON 2 QUILTS AT ONCE SAVES TIME?

While i am on the lookout for fabrics for triangles for square in square blocks i am also looking for triangles the same size for this quilt...it has a little smaller center than the ones for the 9 patch quilt but will be right size when trimmed to fit in this quilt...i need all pastel and med colors for this one so i can cut double amount and work on both quilts....confused??...hope not....

I also need to dig in the triangle box i have full of them different sizes...i may have some right size for both quilts and here is a tip for those who make strings...save those triangle ends and little triangles for the corners of your string quilts...makes better looking centers when 4 are put together...creates an hour glass effect....

I made my grocery delivery gal a little happier yesterday....she got to pick something from my box that has runners etc. in to use in her home....its the least i can do for all the grocery items she helps me with....last month i gave away a bag of potholders and small items to the place where my daughter works.... i had an overload of things....its good to get my work out there and make good public relations...who knows maybe a sale or 2 down the road.....for now i have to get to work on my obligations for Christmas gifts for my groups....more later....

BEEN ON THE GO THIS WEEK

Yes i have been on the go this week...one not by choice....had appointment with the gastro doc....set up times for the scopes to find out maybe why i might be losing blood to cause my anemia....I am not so sure that is what is happening...i know i am not a doc but i take a med that is notorious for malabsorbtion and i think my food isn't getting digested well enough to make blood...the gastro doc also mentioned that so i think i have the right doc in my corner...my primary doc thinks otherwise...so we will see...

Two days later yesterday in fact my granddaughter called and wanted me to go shopping with her in the city....i was tired but we dont get an opportunity to see each other very often anymore being she is living out of state...so i went....we had a great lunch and visit and i did get some things i forgot the day of the dr. visit so it worked out well even though i came home and crashed lol....but it was a good day....

I worked in some time in this week washing and ironing new fabric again....got 10 washed up and today i plan on doing more......i spent a lot of time in sewing room trying to organize my strips into their proper containers again to get things off my table so i can have room to work...and i have a mountain of fabric piles to put away in the cabinet that i am finally done with working on projects...so my time will be put to good use once i am in there...

This about catches me up for now....so its on to sewing for me....more later.....

THOUGHTS OF CHRISTMAS TREES AND ANGELS

Today is Monday again...a new week, one week closer to Christmas...I have been on sites looking for ideas for Christmas gifts...while there i found the most gorgeous Christmas tree all decorated in golds....It almost makes me want to put up a tree this year....I lost interest in Christmas decorating after my husband died a few years ago but today i thought about putting up my little tree but not the 8 ft. one we used to put up....who knows i might even get my angels out that i made years ago with ribbons and lace...

I have to wash up some white printed fabric today then i can start my Christmas project for the swap i am in...i have been dragging my feet this past week....my shoulder is acting up from so much hand sewing and ironing action from an old injury to my rotator cuff accident i had years ago....i hope i dont end up in physical therapy again to  get it to calm down....

As i said i have been hand sewing on the Grandmother flower garden No. 6...the last one i think lol....i only have 3 more rows to go and i will be finished with another top....getting tired of working on this one maybe because i know its the last one lol...

Not much else to talk about today just the same ole stuff with me...the weather is getting into fall now...cool days and cold nights...winter is in the wings ready to take over for a few months....sure hope its not a harsh one this year.....more later.....

FROM STRINGS TO THIS---

On Sunday after sewing all those string blocks i decided to make a top out of some of them....This will go to an orphanage...I'm just sending the top....I don't machine quilt really good as i am basically a hand quilter so i think they could do a better job....

I have enough string blocks for 1/2 of another childs quilt...if i get ambitious and work on more blocks i could have another one for the ladies...I do have another quilt top almost ready to put together in the scrap basket pattern from using leaders and enders method of making blocks....those go so fast...

I am up early today as i have errands to do later and the fact is i didn't sleep all night....wide awake...if this keeps up i think i will see about a sleep study....its getting terrible....

Well i better be on my way...lots to do today....more later....

A WEEKEND OF STRINGS

This isn't the new project i have planned but it is something that was needed...my string box was overflowing again...so i spent the whole weekend so far making string blocks...anything that was too small for a block got made into piano key type for a border or something else later...

I also worked a lot on my granddaughter flower quilt...adding 5 blocks finishing row 14....it wont be long before i have the top done...

I still have the white fabric to wash for the Christmas project i want to make....i think i will add more white fabric for the hexes to the load also...i got through that so fast and there is another quilt top i want to use with the leftover fabric from the flower gardens....just so many ideas so little time and energy lol.....i think i need a crew to help me lol...

Well its bedtime for me but i think i will play a game on the computer before i go...it always makes me sleepy so we will see if it does tonight .....more later....

THINKING CHRISTMAS TODAY

Today my fabric order came with Christmas colors in it for my swap project i am making for our quilting group...I wont tell you what it is but i will show you some of the fabric...i hope it turns out well....I have been hunting ideas for Christmas all this week...havent come up with many yet...sure hope i find more....

So happy my kids returned home from their vacation ok...I am going there later to see them and my granddaughter who i havent seen for almost a year....all my grands are grown and the last one is in college ...they just shouldn't be all grown up yet lol....

Got to make up my mind for the dishes i am taking to the family reunion soon....got lots of ideas for that....guess it depends on how hard i want to work lol....i think cookies will be one of them....the little kids will need a dessert that is portable and cookies are good anytime...maybe some fresh fruit or i might make cinnamon rolls....i guess we wait and see lol...

Well off to the wash machine to do up the fabric that just came so i can get started on my project....more later....

ANOTHER COSMETIC BAG AND CHRISTMAS THOUGHTS

Here is another cosmetic bag i made recently....this little one is like the tan one but they are so neat to make i might just keep making them....I am thinking about taking a bunch of them to my daughter to put in her shop...she is a beautitan and those would fit the purpose as she does nails too..

I have been trying to think of things to make for Christmas gifts this week...In a group i belong to on line is having a Christmas swap again this year....a box filled with goodies...Everyone tries to be unique and each year it gets harder to do that lol....

I also have been working on my granddaughters flower garden quilt which is no. 6 in my series and i think the last one....i will have a lot of solid color hexes leftover since i switched to the smaller posies for the last 3 tops i made....so will have to think of some way to use them...i do have a couple ideas that maybe might work so will have to work the kinks out later....more on this one later....

I am not sure i will ever get my sewing table free of leftover pieces....too big for me to call scrap if i can make other things from them....I have upteen amount of quilt tops that need to be finished so i dont need to make more at the present time....i am so looking for a charity that i can send some to to help them out....some are so specific in what they will take makes it hard when mine arent like what they want...i will keep looking....if you have ideas for me post them.....more later all.....

CAN YOU HAVE TOO MANY BAGS?

Lots have been going on the past couple weeks...i had to go for lab work...an annual thing so i could renew my meds...then the dr appointment....now its more tests as my anemia has gotten worse....It seems its always something when you get past 70...

I have been sewing though, mostly on the flower garden quilt for my granddaughter but been doing a few bags when i could keep my mind on them....the one on the left is about 20 inches square...one day i saw a lot of yellow and different greens in my 2 in stack and thought maybe there was enough for a bag...so that is how that one came about.

Last night i checked the leftover squares i had left and decided that i had enough for a cosmetic bag so i made the one here in the picture.....if i look on the table i probably could find more color combos to use for more bags...

My sewing table looks worse than ever right now...i thought i was making headway in the scrap using but i think i am just creating more mess.....i took one day and made several different blocks as i found scrap that would fit them...so a few quilts gained some blocks...

That is about it for now....maybe i will get out a quilt and put the border on it now that i have the piano keys done for it....i am a little anxious to see what it will look like when put together.....more later....

Finished my cosmetic bags

Finally i got the 2 cosmetic bags finished that i started last week...the first one went accordingly to plan lol...but the second one gave me a little trouble as did my machine...it was like the machine didn't want to run today it kept breaking my thread among other irritating things...but i stuck with it and got them done...

That is about all the ambition i have too today...i did leave all the lights on in there so i will be going back to do a little more sewing...on what i dont know yet...there is a lot i could do if i wanted to lol....

If there is anything good on tv tonight i will probably quit and watch whatever...just that kind of day...whatever happens happens...

not much else right at the moment for comment so all will have to wait til next time....more later....

WIP- FAN QUILT MIGHT GET FINISHED THIS TIME

I have been having back trouble again but did manage to sort through some things in the sewing room....Among the things I found was fabric like my daughters fan quilt...I was lacking the bottom part of the fan but now can make her quilt bigger....she will be happy about that....It will be a bigger bed size now...not sure on border yet...

I was lacking 15 blocks of making it bed size but had the blocks started then I thought ran out of the fabric...so over the weekend I started finishing the blocks so it can be put together...

On Saturday I
received my order for back material and my granddaughters purple  fabric for the border on her flower garden quilt....I am set now for a lot of quilts so I am going to try not to order more fabric for quite awhile....

I worked out my sons scrap quilt...its a vertically brick put together diagonally....confused???....I will take pictures of it when I get the border on....have to make 47 more brick blocks to do that...more cutting for variety in the scrap....

Errands to do today so need to get another cup of coffee and get dressed and get out of here for a bit...2 stores to go to for groceries hope I don't irritate my back again.....more later....

STRINGS AND MORE STRINGS

This is what I have been doing the last couple days when time permitted...digging in my 'string' bin and making 4 1/2 inch blocks to be joined and make a 4 block, block....I plan on making 35 big blocks of 4 to make a quilt...I think I have 20 so far... not sure on border or not there is time to think on that one...I cant sit and make many of these at a time as I start to get nervous and have to quit...

I would like that bin to get down to half before I stop making blocks from it...I only want 1 bin of those things lol....and it doesn't take long for it to overflow....

Well I survived the clean up day lol....I threw out more than I thought I would want to part with and it was a good feeling but very emotional on some things that were my 2 husbands but time for them to go....and now its time for me to go...errands to do....more later....

GRANDMOTHERS FLOWER GARDEN NO.5, 1 MORE TO GO!

Ok here is Grandmothers flower garden quilt top no. 5....I finished this over the winter of 14-15...Like all the others I've done it is hand sewn without the papers inside following the method other than English paper piecing...I am now working on No. 6 which I hope will be done by end of this summer then I can start to quilt all 6 of them....I chose to make all the quilt tops first so if I didn't make it each family member would have a top to get finished but I do hope I am around to quilt them all....

I had a busy holiday weekend...not socially but organizingly (is that a word) busy...I have been working on clearing off the 2 tables I have in the family room that I use for laying out quilts and quilting with my little portable machine....it has been piled high with new fabric ready to be washed and ironed which I spent most of the weekend doing....now to get it put away and the rest of the things off the table...its almost there...

Getting ready to work on my daughters scrappy quilt laying out and preparing it for hand quilting....maybe by the weekend coming I will be able to work on it...I can get a lot done on a weekend for some reason lol.....more later....

GRANDMOTHERS FLOWER GARDEN QUILT NO.4

Today I finally got a picture taken of grandmothers flower garden no.4...this is in the series of I think 6 will be made...I say 6 but I am afraid there may be some hexes leftover that I made need to use up after no. 6....On no. 3 I decided these quilt tops needed a personality lol...so I started adding borders to them...it wasn't all that hard to do...

On finishing  them after I quilt I will cut off the points and the zig that is sticking out on the ends so I can add binding on all of them...

My daughter came this afternoon and took her purse home...she was pleased that there was a zipper in it....that purse gave me a lesson I never thought of...a new way to put in a zipper that was recessed in a bag....hope I remember how it did it if I want to do it again.....more later....

FINISHED MY DAUGHTERS PURSE

Today Sunday I decided I had laid around long enough...with all I have to finish I should work 24 hrs a day...first I was going to try to use more scrap on my sewing table but thought no finish your daughters purse...I had a dilemma ...she wanted a zipper put in after I had sewn it together and I was dragging my feet figuring out how I was going to do it...Well this morning I tackled it....I had a lot of steps to finish it along with putting that zipper in with the finishing touches...but I did it!!!!!

I have several bags to finish and I have been working on hanging my ufo quilts in the craft closet in the sewing room...I cleared a space under the rack so they would hand ok...I am afraid I am going to run out of  room but that should be an incentive to get some finished...right????...lol

I am feeling better but I am so tired...I think that spell took a lot out of me...last night I fixed a steak thought maybe all that protein would help...along with couple veggies and strawberries later....that should boost a little energy I would think....we'll see....more later....

SCRAPPY COSMETIC BAG

Its Tuesday and its raining today...good day to sit and sew lol....I worked on more blocks till lunch time...

More last week end sewing was this big cosmetic bag....I have plans for it which I cant discuss in case someone is reading this lol...

This morning I worked on my daughters quilt which is the same pattern as the bag but bigger squares...it was made mostly with leader and enders...it went together so fast I hardly realized I had a quilt ready...maybe I will get to the border for it today...she wants a dark red border which will work fine I found out after laying it out...there is a lot of red in it so it should compliment it ok...

Yesterday I machine quilted the sections for another market bag...this one I really like its different...hope the picture will do it justice ...

I have a bunch of 1 yard reds that I need to wash up and put away so maybe that will be this afternoons job....we will see....more later....

THE BAG LADY IS AT IT AGAIN

The bag lady is at it again yes I made another one....the earlier ones were made from leftovers on my sewing table but this one was planned from my stash with just enough to make it too...it had me worried for a bit because I didn't measure to see how much I needed...but I think it turned out great...the 9 patches are peach colored not white as shown...

Yesterday I was going to work on a quilt in the sewing room but when I got there I found a bunch of different colored blue squares I decided to make a purse with them...so its done except for the straps and the top band...later today I will finish it I think....

I see another quick grocery trip to the store for the things I need for my seafood pasta salad I want to have for my supper....that will last a couple days and will be an easy meal....so I better get in gear and get going....I slept in today so the day will go so fast......more later...

ANOTHER BAG, ANOTHER DAY

Yesterday I finished a bag I had started about a month ago....I had decisions to make with finishing it so I just let it sit...I got tired of looking at it so I just did what I thought would be fine and it was....these blocks I used on it were small I like the effect but I don't like working with them so not sure I will use this size again...I plan on keeping this one for myself... bag size is 16x15 ....I made a 8 inch square bottom in it..i think it will hold a casserole or covered container for meetings...

Today the weather is so lousy I think probably I will spend it sewing or doing laundry or a little of both...of course I have more fabric I could wash/iron too....so I guess I will just dive in and do whatever...

I would like to finish my daughters quilt top today...it is made with the same scrappy pattern as the above bag but bigger blocks which went together fast and is good for leader and ender blocks...

Ok enough said today...got to get to work time is a-wastin'....more later....

9 PATCH/SNOWBALL QUILT IS FINISHED

I hope everyone had a blessed Easter....we had a small family gathering...it was nice for doing a lot of visiting which is hard when everyone is so busy these days....

This morning I finally wound up the camera and took a pic of the finished 9 patch/snowball quilt...it was such a joy working on this one....of late I haven't had time to just sit and hand quilt....hopefully I will be doing more of it...one of them will be that little green/aqua scrap quilt...its about the same size as this one 40 inches square...nice size to finish in a few days....

I think the guys took care of my sewage problem...at least I hope so....that is one problem I never want to see again in my lifetime lol.....when I was young problems didn't seem as big as they do now that age has taken over....I can understand my mother in her late years now lol....

Got errands to run this afternoon so I guess I better get my list of things ready...odds and ends at the grocery store for potato salad to go with the leftovers I brought home from my daughters easter sunday....more later.....

PICTURE OF NEW LITTLE QUILT

This afternoon while out running errands I went in search of camera batteries...I had overlooked them and finally asked a clerk about stocking them...they weren't where I thought they would be...was so glad to see that they still had them....As you can see this is my little quilt....the pattern that spoke to me lol...its a simple 9 patch and snowball pattern but what makes it striking is the different solid colors....I am liking this one a lot....
I haven't taken anymore pictures yet...have to try to remember which of those I haven't got pics of.....

I have been working on so many small things trying to use up some of the scrap I have on my table that I go from one to the next not thinking about pictures...just getting them done lol.....

Its going to be rainy here for a couple days so maybe I will get pictures taken and maybe my photo album up to date along with finishing this little quilt...cant wait for that...anxious to see it final....more later....

STRINGS GET PRIORITY TODAY

I need to dig in my big clothes basket of blocks today for the bag of string blocks already made....2 reasons....I need to see how many I have and what direction to go and to find out what size they are...I forgot!...I didn't work on the strings earlier in the week like I thought I would...Now after working in the sewing room a little my scrap basket is really overflowing so I have to work up those scraps just to get them off my counter...
I wish I had a good idea how I wanted to use the 'string' blocks but at the moment I don't....the last quilt top I made with some of them was the center of a star so I don't want to do that again...I guess I need to do a little digging for ideas again....

The weather man says today could be the last cold blast for this season and by the first of next week we could be approaching 60 degrees....boy what a welcome that would be after all the below zero weather we had this winter...

I guess I better get going on something or I will get really lazy again...was that way first part of the week...maybe it was cabin fever lol....anyhow I don't need it lol...off to whatever.....more later.....

SCRAPPY THINGS MADE TO GIVE AWAY JUST BECAUSE

As I have posted the last 2 weeks I have been working with my scraps....some have been made into bags, some into quilts, and some are like these....
one of a kind small mug rugs, little mats, potholders, etc....

A year ago I took a bunch of things like these to my daughter who has a business and she used most of them for gifts for her customers and some she kept....and it helped my scrap situation last year lol....

Well now I am making the ones in the picture and adding to them weekly for my other daughter to take to where she works to give to the ladies there as a gift and again will get rid of some of the scrap I have this year....

I have so many quilt tops to finish and a lot of them are scrappy I thought it would be nice to just give some items away....who knows maybe it will bring customers my way some day....

I didn't get the quilting done that I wanted to do yesterday but instead I spent the day in the kitchen making veggie soup and doing dishes as I dirtied them....the soup was a really good one this time or else I was ready to eat soup lol....at least I wont have to cook for a few days...nice roast beef sandwiches from the soup meat too...cant beat that.....more later....

QUICK LINK TO GRANDMOTHERS FLOWER GARDEN QUILTS

For those of you that are linking to the posts involving my Grandmothers Flower Garden quilts I have added a quick link on the side bar for the flower garden assembly of those quilts....earlier I noticed that both posts that I made showing how I put them together were not together so I put them in the Label section of the side bar for easier location to use...I hope this helps those that would like to make these quilts the way I do.....

Also the link for all posts involving the flower garden quilts is still there under the assembly link....more later....

ANSWER ABOUT BAG CONSTRUCTION

This post is in answer to Trish at Love of Quilts....She would like the pattern for my huge bag....well Trish I hate to tell you but there is no written pattern...

I had 'brick' rectangles from all the gfg quilt strip ends so I just decided how big I wanted this bag and went from there...you can make the bricks any size as long as the measurement comes out the size you want for the bag....Along the way I decided I wanted a border at the top and the bottom for variety...I added the borders before it went to the machine to quilt...

I quilted all three layers together on the machine before putting together...the zig zagged the edges so they would not fray....nothing fancy I plan on using it to take to meetings so it will get rough use lol....the straps were made with interfacing 1 1/8 in wide and 22 inches long and the fabric covering them I think was about 4 inches wide by 22..turn under 1/4 inch on one long side and fold over to cover the other side of the fabric and stitch and then stitch a couple more rows for stability...

Add a facing to the top of the bag after you pin the straps in place either inside (hide the band) or outside to accent the bag...

Box the bottom  as deep as you want it on both side and finish seam.....that is as close as I can to  tell you how to make that bag....I have more scrap bags I am making with other quilt patterns and I probably wont write down instructions for them either....

I hope this helps...it was very easy to make...more later....

FINALLY A HUGE PROJECT BAG

It did snow over night under 3 inches of the white stuff....I know we haven't had it as hard as the east has but I am thoroughly fed up with winter....mainly because its been soooo cold that I didn't want to get out and upset my arthritis.....its been good for sewing though lol....

I have said this for a long time that I wanted a huge bag that was big enough to carry 2 big quilts in for carrying to meetings ...well I made one...I planned this one for size 24x28....I think it is big enough...I just hope my back can handle it when its full lol.....here is a picture of it....Its machine quilted and took  1 1/2 yards of fabric for lining....I got in the green stack for fabrics to fill in making the bricks as I seem to have a boat load of greens to pick from for some reason.... and I am not a green fabric person lol.....I do like teal color though lol.....

I was a very late sleeper today...I guess you could say I got caught up for a few days...the only thing that bothers me is getting to sleep tonight will be a problem....I have had 1 cup of coffee and a banana and I need that second cup and to get dressed and see what my day will be...I am just glad I can be warm and safe.....more later....
