PASTA CRAB SALAD MY WAY

 Tuesday this week i found some imitation crab in the freezer and thought that would be good for hot days so i put in frig to thaw.....Knowing i had to cook something for my supper tonight i got that out and made a crab salad my way early this morning....Cukes, pasta, red pepper and spices and of course crab....i had to have some so my breakfast was a big bowl of pasta crab salad......i controlled myself with ingredients so i wont be eating it all week....most of the time i make 2-8 oz pkg of crab but 1 was just right with a big handful of macaroni, cucumber and 1/2 red pepper....didn't have celery  and i didn't want onion this time did have celery seed, garlic powder and dill....I used to think you had to follow recipes to the letter but somewhere along the way i figured out to experiment.....I think it happened when i started watching cooking shows on TV..

Didn't make it to the sewing room yesterday. weather aches got the best of me when we had several storms with the huge low pressure that is still passing over us...spent more time laying down...They say same set up for today as yesterday so have to be watchful of more....stay safe....more later...

UP EARLY THIS MORNING

 

Yes i am up early this morning...have some things i want to get done before my son comes.... He will stop by after his business appointment with my list of groceries he picked up for me.....It would be so much better if we had a grocery store in town but we dont....i miss getting my own groceries ....i used to almost make out menus as i shopped with what i bought and pretty much stuck to what i thought about cooking later on....

My little old lady machine is now over 60 years old ...that's her in the picture...i bought her back in the 60's...at the time she was top of the line Neechi machines...But now she is like me old and wore out....i have to oil her quite often and being its been awhile since i last sewed she probably needs a little prodding....Is there anyone still sewing on one of these???...This picture is when she is cleaned off but right now i have it piled high with scraps diffeerent sizes doing leaders and enders....i should get pics of the table beside the machine with all the piles of different quilts started...maybe i will if i dont forget it...

Ok gotta get bills ready for him so he can mail for me and just get started......more later....

Quarantine Is Getting To Me

I'm having a bit of trouble tonight....I have been in self quarantine since Feb. and I am feeling a little stir crazy tonight.....I have a lot of health problems that put me on the high risk list....the only person I have seen is my son and maybe a person or two when I got a few groceries at the dollar store....

I am a tough old bird but I am getting bored though there is plenty to do here at home....but its the same thing over and over every day....a person needs a break now and then....

Our little county is just now getting the virus...we had escaped it for the most part till now and the amounts are growing....I guess I am a little scared too because I sure don't want the virus.....ya know its a terrible thing to be in the hands of people that wont take precaution against the virus and that a person can die because of it and cant do anything to stop it....I am not use to that....I have dealt whatever was given to me in the past to deal with but this is terrifying...

I guess I needed to rant tonight....its good that I have somewhere to let out my feelings...don't do this very often and I hope I don't do it again.....that is all for tonight....hope I can sleep...….more later.....

NO SEWING BUT A GOOD EXCUSE

Well its winter time here now....we have had 2 measurable snows those happened in October which is kind of rare....and it has gotten more cold than it should for the first part of November....

I started stocking my cabinet with groceries in early fall so I would be ready for winter this year.....we had a weird summer so I expected winter to be unusual also....I can get my meat delivered too...until recently I was getting produce from the local farm and they delivered too...was really great for my back...but now I have to go get my produce and carry....I do not want to have to get out in the snow and ice I am so afraid of falling and breaking something or worse...my legs aren't that great for stability...

My grandson was here last Sat. and I fixed him a steak supper...he helped me with things I could not do....after he left I wasn't feeling good...that stayed with me for about 4 days...stomach and lower trac wasn't just right....must have been bug....one of the local teachers said there was a bug going through the school so I must have picked it up too...

So as you probably guessed by now no sewing this week...I haven't felt much like doing anything....today though I had to go to the next town to pick up med...I got some lunch while there....it was a cold afternoon but at least the sun was out....cant seem to get warm since I got home....boy do I hate to see winter come in.....take care everyone...more later...….

THINKING OF QUILTS

Yesterday I thought I should start staying up more because I am finding it harder to sleep now that I am a little better...
So I spent some time hand sewing posies on my flower garden quilt...My mind wanders all over while I am doing that and one of the topics went back to all the quilt tops I have waiting to be quilted....It wont be long and I will have this flower garden quilt top done and I really need to get a quilt laid out and quilted....But which one?...I have an 8 ft. closet in the sewing room and it is jam packed with quilt tops all hanging up smushed together...

I have been looking at pictures of quilts tops, mine and other pictures of quilts I have collected and put in a file for future ideas trying to get in the mood to quilt when I feel much better....I might even review some on here a time for two too...but for now I am going to finish my coffee and see if I can get a load of towels in to wash and maybe move around more.....more later.....

9-PATCH BLOCK PATTERN SHOULDN'T BE CLAIMED BY ANYONE WITHOUT HISTORY

I'm going to stick my nose out there for a minute...I read in one of my friends blogs about a lady giving her a bad time for making a quilt in the pattern the woman was going to publish in a book and take claim for the pattern...its a very old pattern and I think she needs to do more history on the block instead of claiming it as hers....heres mine...

 

 

 

 

 

...I have been making this pattern for over 40 years, a simple pattern that really doesn't need claimed by anyone...
...I have more but no more pics in pc....and I am not sure but I think I have a couple bags of odd 9 patch blocks ready for sashed....more later....

ANSWERING A COMMENT TODAY

Today i am going to answer Celia's comment...that is a good idea using a flannel back table cloth for a design wall but i dont have a wall that i can devote to that...

i still lay out blocks on the floor to check where they should go but i cant lay out a quilt top on the floor to sandwich and pin so i butt 2 tables together and lay them out there....but i have a health condition with my back that makes that hard to do without a lot of stops to let the back spasms stop....in fact i dont have floor space large enough to lay out a quilt top either....

i just need a nice big studio lol.....if i was younger i would not hesitate to have an addition onto the house but at my age i doubt i would get much use out of it for the money it would take to build it....

I am happy to see all comments on my blog...then i know people do read it and makes it worthwhile for me to write it...glad to see love of quilts comments too...glad you are back commenting i missed them when you stopped....

Today i am going to see if i can get my driving test over with....been too worried about it and its not going to stop till i get it done....just hope i pass.....another thing you have to do when you get to 75...ugh....
