ALL I WANT TO DO IS SEW TODAY

Today I am getting the urge to just sew and sew...So do I give in and retreat to the sewing room and stay till I cant move or....

Do I get out and run errands and enjoy the weather even though its cold....Any day the sun shines is a good day in my book....

I have been working steadily on quilting the small quilt I showed the other day....I am on the last corner hand quilting and should be done with it sometime this weekend depending on how much I watch tv lol....been thinking about what color binding should be and I think the light mint green in the quilt will be good contrast with the other blue border....

Our quilt meeting is next week and it will be the first one I will get to this year...our weather has been so rotten it was hard for me to get out and worry about falling....got several things to show including this little quilt so I hope to have it finished before then....

Ok I am outta here....cant get anything done in front of this little box  laundry to do, decide on meals, sew sew, etc...oh decisions....more later....

PICTURE OF NEW LITTLE QUILT

This afternoon while out running errands I went in search of camera batteries...I had overlooked them and finally asked a clerk about stocking them...they weren't where I thought they would be...was so glad to see that they still had them....As you can see this is my little quilt....the pattern that spoke to me lol...its a simple 9 patch and snowball pattern but what makes it striking is the different solid colors....I am liking this one a lot....
I haven't taken anymore pictures yet...have to try to remember which of those I haven't got pics of.....

I have been working on so many small things trying to use up some of the scrap I have on my table that I go from one to the next not thinking about pictures...just getting them done lol.....

Its going to be rainy here for a couple days so maybe I will get pictures taken and maybe my photo album up to date along with finishing this little quilt...cant wait for that...anxious to see it final....more later....

HANGING OUT IN JAMMIES AND SEWING

There was a graphic on facebook this morning about relaxing on Sunday in your jammies and just hanging out...well it sounded so good to me that is what I am going to do today, well at least part of the day....

I am in the mood also to wash up more fabric...just got another order yesterday of ones I need to use right away and I need to get more of them off my table and into the cabinet for future use....dragging my feet???? yup I hate to iron after all of it I did when I was young...lol

NASCAR will be on later today ...don't want to miss that either...will have to work on hand sewing in front of tv then lol....

I will have to get to the store sometime today though I have been cooking so much that I am out of a lot of things and just maybe I can get a chicken dinner instead of cooking today....

I hope me hand quilting this small quilt will get me going again with the quilting...my back has hurt so much it took the fun out of laying out quilts so I can finish them...I have several I would like to hand quilt besides the grandmothers flower garden ones...those have been a labor of love for me....more later....

A QUILT TALKED TO ME-YES IT DID!

Friday night when I was scouting quilting sites trying to find border ideas I found a quilt that spoke to me....lol...had a few of those do that before so I had to start it which I did last night...

Today Saturday I finished the top....its a 9 patch and snowball combined with all pastel patches...all I have left to finish on the top is the outside border...did the inner one already....

Tonight I opened my bolt of  white Kona cotton I have had for awhile....I cut off a couple 1 1/2 yard pieces, washed and ironed them...one will be for the back of this little quilt and I intend to hand quilt it....

Sorry no pictures yet...still haven't gotten out of town to try to find them....been sewing too much...snow coming tomorrow night...not much so might be melted sometime Monday then maybe I can get the batteries...would be nice to have them here in town but we are lucky we even have a grocery store....

Tired tonight so I hope I can sleep...at least I wont be thinking about that quilt top...worked it all out so the anticipation is gone lol.....more later....

A PICTURE OF MORE SMALL ITEMS

Today I found a picture I took before the batteries went dead of a few things I made a month ago...I don't think I posted it yet...These things were made from the scrappy stuff on my table....If I have posted it just pass over it or enjoy the pic again....the pinwheel potholders have been gifted already and the green small runner has been given away also...the teal item in the back of the pic is for my dinner tray I use when eating in front of the tv lol...and the other set of potholders (second set of them) will go in the box for another time...

Since then I have made a lot more from my table....ya know looking at the mess I didn't think there was that much stuff on that table...maybe I should start advertising things for sale though I doubt there would be any takers lol...

Well I have to get going ...its a nice day here and I have errands to run in town and ugh groceries to get...lots of in and outs of the house today but at least the weather is nice....more later...

BUSY, BUSY BUSY

I stayed off the computer mostly the last couple days and got a lot more done...I am sure you all can relate to that lol....

If you knew me better you would know that I have at least a dozen things going at once in the sewing room...well yesterday I worked on at least 6 of them....

Still working with scrap and small pieces on my sewing table I was able to make more blocks for my pinwheel quilt, the scrap basket quilt, and the variation of 9 patch quilt.... and the 2 leader and ender quilts going sitting on the machine at all times.....

I also started a new irish chain quilt after looking in my cut up 2 inch box...I have a lot of plain pastel squares and decided a baby quilt of white big squares and 9 patches with multi color squares alternating with white would be nice with a couple colored borders...although the big white squares look too plain...I might put a colored square in center...more on this later.....

My daughter was here Tuesday and I showed her the latest scrap basket quilt and asked if she liked it....if yes then I would make it bigger otherwise I would look for a charity...she did like it and wants a maroon border on it to bring out the reds in it...so I have been going through stash looking for red border fabric....and next what will be the back...decisions, decisions lol

Hopefully I will get batteries for my camera soon...getting a lot things done and need to get pics for my little scrap book before I forget what isn't in there....and post here too....

Coffee is done so its time to get back to work....more later....

GRRRRR---DEAD BATTERIES

I Finally got around to taking pictures last night and yup dead batteries in the camera....when I was in the city last week I thought about those batteries but didn't go with my instinct...

I can get pictures in my phone but so far don't have anything set up to get them out of the phone....In fact I don't like cell phones period!.....I have always just used mine in case of emergency...I don't encourage anyone to call on it either as I would never know where the phone was as much as I am all over the house...just one aggravation I don't need...guess I am not tech minded enough lol....

So no pics till I get back out of town to see about a battery for the camera...sure hope I can find them....last time I had a hard time locating one....are cameras going out of date too along with the other devices I am used to?....

Ok on with my second cup of coffee today and get productive doing something....more later....

ME VERSES MACHINE TODAY

Yes its me verses machine today....I think I know why I have been dragging my feet getting to the machine to quilt....

Things went fine with the bobbin thread that was already in the machine but when I rewound it to do the second half of the bag I have been working on I got wonky stitches...so after 1/2 hour of fiddling with it I found some lint in the bobbin case and got it out and tried it a gain ...now its ok...I finished the 2 pieces for the bag....so here I am blogging while resting my back before I do more....

I have a lot of things to quilt and finish...I would even like to get to a bigger quilt to finish this week sometime...

Ok back to the machine for now to see what other trouble I can get into lol....more later...

PAIN IS THE WINNER TODAY

No pics today....yes I spent most of the weekend sewing...used up more scrap making more small things....

I also worked on my fall boomerang blocks...I had 70 made but decided after looking at my notes that I needed 1 more row so I made 10 more....

With all the sewing I did I have my back in a big uproar right now....bed rest early for me tonight!!!....hopefully I will feel better in the morning...more later....

THERE IS HOPE FOR SPRING AFTERALL

Yes there is hope for the coming of spring afterall!!!...the temp is in the 30's today with the sun shining...Not sure if I will get to town and pick up my meds or not...I also have a small grocery list I should take care of before it becomes  huge....

Right now I am very lazy and it wouldn't take much for me to take a nap...I did accomplish something this morning though....I got the Grandmothers flower garden quilt top No. 5 done...and its somewhat of a record lol....I started it last fall about October and I have it done all hand stitched...Now its on to the last one , my granddaughters...she loves purple so her border will be medium purple shade...I think I have enough variety in the purple to do it....I have found that to have a variety for blocks I need about 6 different pattern blocks in the colors and about 5 each of those to make the quilts have variety...

If I get some ambition later today I will get pics taken of No. 4 and No. 5 gfg quilts and post them....for now I gotta make some other decisions for the day....more later....

STRINGS GET PRIORITY TODAY

I need to dig in my big clothes basket of blocks today for the bag of string blocks already made....2 reasons....I need to see how many I have and what direction to go and to find out what size they are...I forgot!...I didn't work on the strings earlier in the week like I thought I would...Now after working in the sewing room a little my scrap basket is really overflowing so I have to work up those scraps just to get them off my counter...
I wish I had a good idea how I wanted to use the 'string' blocks but at the moment I don't....the last quilt top I made with some of them was the center of a star so I don't want to do that again...I guess I need to do a little digging for ideas again....

The weather man says today could be the last cold blast for this season and by the first of next week we could be approaching 60 degrees....boy what a welcome that would be after all the below zero weather we had this winter...

I guess I better get going on something or I will get really lazy again...was that way first part of the week...maybe it was cabin fever lol....anyhow I don't need it lol...off to whatever.....more later.....

SCRAPPY THINGS MADE TO GIVE AWAY JUST BECAUSE

As I have posted the last 2 weeks I have been working with my scraps....some have been made into bags, some into quilts, and some are like these....
one of a kind small mug rugs, little mats, potholders, etc....

A year ago I took a bunch of things like these to my daughter who has a business and she used most of them for gifts for her customers and some she kept....and it helped my scrap situation last year lol....

Well now I am making the ones in the picture and adding to them weekly for my other daughter to take to where she works to give to the ladies there as a gift and again will get rid of some of the scrap I have this year....

I have so many quilt tops to finish and a lot of them are scrappy I thought it would be nice to just give some items away....who knows maybe it will bring customers my way some day....

I didn't get the quilting done that I wanted to do yesterday but instead I spent the day in the kitchen making veggie soup and doing dishes as I dirtied them....the soup was a really good one this time or else I was ready to eat soup lol....at least I wont have to cook for a few days...nice roast beef sandwiches from the soup meat too...cant beat that.....more later....

QUICK LINK TO GRANDMOTHERS FLOWER GARDEN QUILTS

For those of you that are linking to the posts involving my Grandmothers Flower Garden quilts I have added a quick link on the side bar for the flower garden assembly of those quilts....earlier I noticed that both posts that I made showing how I put them together were not together so I put them in the Label section of the side bar for easier location to use...I hope this helps those that would like to make these quilts the way I do.....

Also the link for all posts involving the flower garden quilts is still there under the assembly link....more later....

ANSWER ABOUT BAG CONSTRUCTION

This post is in answer to Trish at Love of Quilts....She would like the pattern for my huge bag....well Trish I hate to tell you but there is no written pattern...

I had 'brick' rectangles from all the gfg quilt strip ends so I just decided how big I wanted this bag and went from there...you can make the bricks any size as long as the measurement comes out the size you want for the bag....Along the way I decided I wanted a border at the top and the bottom for variety...I added the borders before it went to the machine to quilt...

I quilted all three layers together on the machine before putting together...the zig zagged the edges so they would not fray....nothing fancy I plan on using it to take to meetings so it will get rough use lol....the straps were made with interfacing 1 1/8 in wide and 22 inches long and the fabric covering them I think was about 4 inches wide by 22..turn under 1/4 inch on one long side and fold over to cover the other side of the fabric and stitch and then stitch a couple more rows for stability...

Add a facing to the top of the bag after you pin the straps in place either inside (hide the band) or outside to accent the bag...

Box the bottom  as deep as you want it on both side and finish seam.....that is as close as I can to  tell you how to make that bag....I have more scrap bags I am making with other quilt patterns and I probably wont write down instructions for them either....

I hope this helps...it was very easy to make...more later....
