NEW QUILTS FROM THE WEEKEND

Well these arent what you might have been expecting to see lol....i had good intentions when i got in the sewing room...first i straightened up my table that took a couple hours this morning.....

Then for some reason i got into the clothes basket under the table where i keep my 'bags of blocks' and started digging....and down in the bottom i knew this bag was there and what was in it but when i opened it i found that i had finished the center and one border.....
the borders are strips sewn together then cut into big triangles and sewn in a row...tricky let me tell ya!!!...i looked through the bag and found more partial blocks for another border....at this point i was wondering why i stopped working on it....but later i think i know why.....

i had to refigure just how to put the second border on and how big to put the plain border...that took another 3 hours of making the border for the outside layer...the corners gave me som grief trying to get them all the same but i gave up...on the first border i see they didn't all come out alike either...so i didn't worry about it..the yellow in the center doesn't match the yellow in the next layer cause i couldn't find the same one in my stash....this project i know is over 30 years old...i remember starting it but i dont remember how i was going to quilt the center and the rest of it....so i will have to figure that out now as its ready to sandwich....

Saturday i had these already in a bag sewn into 16 patch blocks and had no idea what i was going to do with them but i wanted them out of that basket and out of my life!!!...
they were sample cottons from an old 'Princess Peggy' dress factory that used to be in a nearby town ....my MIL gave them to me still on the cards 40 years ago....she was a friend of the factory manager who gave her a lot of samples and scrap for quilts ...i have a quilt made with some of the better samples that needs finished one day....anyway i decided to make those little dinky things into this quilt....my daughter has been wanting something to 'tea dye' so my thought is to give this to her and let her do her thing....it will be just right for her 'primitive' decor....that too is ready for sandiwching and machine quilting....no way would i attempt to hand quilt this with all those seams....there are 96 little squares on each layer....ugh! just glad to get it this far lol.....

These 2 quilts will most likely pop into the posts for a while till they are done as i am working on them....

The quilts i was going to work on today???? well they took a back seat but there is always tomorrow right???.....more later...
