MEETING NEW FRIENDS, FLOATING BOX QUILT

I had a very pleasant experience yesterday...in the past i have been invited to join a bunch of ladies that like to quilt and meet once a month....that was a few years ago....but after working odd hours like i did my habits have been turned upside down so was always hard to get going in the mornings....

Well, one of the ladies invited me again this past couple weeks and yesterday i was up earlier than usual so i got around and put together my little sewing bag and off i went to their meeting....i had a really good time...and there were more there than i expected, half of which i already knew....i fully intended to take my camera but i forgot it...i would have had some good pics of the things they were doing....

In december i will go again and its a potluck...so will be doubly fun i am sure...and i will make a note to be sure to take the camera...

When i came home yesterday i put together the floating box quilt aka/ easy block...i dont have the sash around the top and the left side yet which will be the same as the sash between the blocks....no border for this one....but i am wondering if there is too much light space in this quilt....
i will have to study it more before i decide what to do next...at first i wasn't liking it but it is growing on me...if i had an embroidery machine i would put something inthe boxes but that is not an option...

The ladies at the group where i was yesterday want to see my grandmothers flower garden quilt but i dont have a bag big enough for the 2 of them....i am deciding about making a huge bag to contain all of the gfg things even the box of hexes so it will have to be good size on the bottom...that way i can keep it all in one place and put it away when i am working on something else instead of having it all over while trying to work with other things....more on this later.....

I worked on finished the posie block i worked on at the meeting yesterday and now have quite a selection to pick from that is ready for adding to the rows of the grandmothers flower garden quilt...so that should be what i work on in the coming months till my supply gets down then start over again lol...one thing for sure is this quilt is teaching me to have more patience!....more later....

I am so happy that you were able to make it to the sewing and meet new friends...it is nice that it is close to your home and you don't have to go far in the winter months...I am happy that you had a good time....Sharon
